With over 20 years’ experience in the marine industry, encompassing a diverse range of vessels and operations, we have been specialising in marine consultancy and surveying since 2009.

With an extensive network of strong industry contacts, MotorSail can call on a wide range of technical and operational experience and expertise that allows us to respond professionally and provide service over a wide range of maritime issues.

Darren is a fully accredited commercial marine surveyor with the Australian Federal Government body AMSA.

Having a wide-ranging seafaring career, combined with formal qualifications in Project Management, Marine Operations and Marine Surveying, Darren has a demonstrated ability to undertake a variety of roles for ship owners, including;

• Fleet operations manager
• Shipowner’s representative for vessel acquisition and delivery
• Refit and new build project management
• Development of Safety Management Systems

His unique advantage is that he truly understands both small pleasure craft and large commercial vessels, having gained a broad cross section of knowledge serving onboard a variety of vessels including;

• General cargo
• Passenger
• Offshore oil and gas
• Scientific and hydrographic research with CSIRO and AIMS
• Antarctic division ships with P&O
• Tug Master with Svitzer
• Recreational vessels – Power and Sail

In between working on commercial vessels, Darren has built, restored and lived aboard his own vessels and has cruised extensively both in Australia and the South Pacific.
